Why Is ShiftOS Free?
I don't like forcing people to pay for software however I dislike piracy and don't want anyone going to jail for illegally downloading ShiftOS or getting heavily infected by viruses on peer to peer sites. Instead I go by the rule "If you like it then go ahead and pay for it".
Why Should I Donate?
Look at it this way... I am not a programmer. ShiftOS is something I work on in my little free time. In other words development is extremely slow and ShiftOS could be dropped out the window at any moment. With no donations I can't afford to keep working on it and it won't have a future.
How Much Should I Donate?
Have a quick look at this website you are reading. I don't have a proper domain name (I really want ShiftOS.com) and the hosting here on wix.com has very limited bandwidth due to my free account.
$99 could get me proper hosting here for an entire year but that doesn't pay me for my work on ShiftOS. In otherwords crowdfunding would be very useful but donate however much you feel is worth it for ShiftOS to continue being developed. Anything you donate will go to me as a thank you for my work however If you want to pay for hosting email me first and tell me so I can specifically use your donation for running this website.
